In its third year Southern California Fire baseball club climbed into the national spotlight by posting a 43-6 record and finishing up at the NBC World Series in Kansas. With quality starting pitching, dominant relief, and a group of hitters who posted nearly 10 runs a game, Fire Baseball team was nearly unbeatable.

Throughout the 2004 season The Fire showed a great deal determination to succeed. Winning 2 tournaments, one of which took 3 strait wins on the last day, the Fire Baseball team showed an ability to come from behind to win that made fans sit on the edge of their seats. Above all it was a great group of individuals who came excited to play the game every day.

Even among a team with so many great players there were a few that stood out. Among the pitchers, Eddie Degerman, Jimmy Freeman, and Armondo Carrasco, anchored the pitching staff with consistent dominant performances. With the hitters lighting up the bats all year, there were a many standouts. Jake Mendrin took home League MVP honors by playing and excellent first base and lead the team in several offensive categories. Overall there were too may All-Stars to mention, consistent comeback victories came by clutch hits from almost every hitter over the course of the year.

Several notable coaches around the area said this team had some of the greatest chemistry and talent that they had ever seen. 2004 was great summer for Fire Baseball and an exciting glimpse at the future of the organization.
