Our Mission:
The Southern California Fire baseball Organization is committed to providing
a positive environment for young men who aspire to higher education and
or professional baseball within the framework of competition.
The Southern California Fire baseball club’s primary role is to
provide player growth, development, and to be perceived as a “premier” high
caliber, highly competitive baseball organization that competes at the
NCAA division 1 level.
The “Fire” is committed to maintaining a foundation based
on teamwork, goodwill, developing relations on the field and in the community,
hard work, and ethics with the goal to develop the players in sports
as well as life.
An additional concurrent goal will be to compete and qualify to the
national Baseball Congress World Series. Our level of competition will
provide for the player to play NCAA division 1 competition locally, and
to further develop the players that are competing at that level currently.
Our History:
The Western Wood Bat League is the former Western Semi Professional Baseball
League was formed in 1998. The league will be going into its sixth year
of league play in the summer of 2003. Last season was a first, sending
three teams to compete in the National Baseball Congress World Series
in Wichita.
In recent years the Western Wood Bat League was based in San Diego exclusively.
The league has extended play to include Long Beach, South Bay, and Orange
County with a possibility of expanding to an eighth team in 2003 to complete
the league. In 2003 the league was asked to drop the title Semi-Pro from
its name, so there would be no conflict between professional baseball
and the NCAA. We have accomodated that request.
The Southern California Fire Baseball Organization will begin its second
season this summer in the Western Wood Bat League affiliated with the
National Baseball Congress. The Southern California Fire will be the
only remaining team in Orange County to affiliate with the NBC and the
Western League. The balance of the league Teams will be The South Bay
Saints, San Diego Baron Stars, San Diego Mavericks, San Diego Marines,
The North County Waves, and The
So. Cal. "FIRE"will play all their home games at Hart Park
in the City of Orange, the home of the Chapman University Baseball Panthers.
Road trips in the "FIRE" 2003 season will include travel to
Humboldt, Oakland, Salinas and Santa Barbara. The remainder of our league
away games will be in San Diego, Dominguez Hills and Point Loma Nazarene
to include a 24 game league schedule, 2 tournaments, and 20 non-league
games for a 52 game schedule. Our schedule includes 2 four day NBC Qualifying
Tournements in July.
Fire Baseball recruits from around the nation to provide a roster that
consists of mostly Division 1 players with a mix of Division II & III
players, NAIA and top notch Junior College players with a strong strategy
for developing the organization for long-term existence with the intention
to provide players the same atmosphere found at the NCAA division 1 level, top
collegiate summer baseball, and in professional
minor league baseball.
Our Team was conceived around October of 2001 and we chose our name "FIRE"in
November of that year as a tribute to "Our fallen heroes." Our
team colors are red, white, and blue in honor of our country.
